EXCITING JOB OPPORTUNITY
Creative Sales Assistant Wanted
Fairwood Music (South East Asia) Ltd is an independent music publishing company
We are based in Shanghai and represent songwriters, music producers and composers for the whole of South East
Asia (except Japan) and some Chinese songwriters for the whole world.
Our western clients include David Bowie, Bob Marley, Paul Oakenfold, Ninja Tunes, Soulwax, Manu Chao. Our
Chinese clients include B6 and JJ Wu. Our role as a music publisher is to collect money due for use of their
songs, to promote and sell their songs, and to find new great writers, both Western and Asian, who need their
work to be represented.
We are looking someone to join the team as a Creative Sales Assistant, working alongside the Managing Director
and her Assistant.
ROLE :
Main functions:
- To learn the basic operation of royalty collecting in order to chase up royalties owed from all of our
territories in South East Asia.
- To help introduce our songs to local record labels and producers. We want our songs to be covered by
local singers and performers.
- To help present and sell our songs and music to digital, film and advertising companies in SE Asia.
Secondary Functions:
- To find new young songwriters, musicians, bands and producers from mainland China who would like FWSEA
to represent their work in both SE Asia as well as the rest of the world.
- To help find interesting and good quality Chinese music to promote in the west.
TIME : This is a full time job, with a month trial period.
SALARY: tbc
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE: A good knowledge of English essential. Good computer skills, and the ability
to access music and graphics via the computer. Good knowledge of internet and digital platforms, with
particular regard to music use and delivery.
Contacts within the media, tv, film and advertising business would be preferable but not essential. But the
applicant will be expected to concentrate on building these contacts.
Good knowledge of the nationwide Chinese music scene, both pop and underground/independent
Contacts in the local music scene, both with musicians and record labels, is preferred but not essential.
PERSONAL QUALITIES: The applicant must be interested in music. He/she will be expected to become familiar with
the FWSEA music catalogue in order to sell it. Enthusiastic, confident and persuasive.
Sociable, and a good networker. Organised and able to work with their own initiative.
He/she will need to attend meetings with the Managing Director and translate if necessary.
Age 20 - 28 years old

environment is relaxed and informal. The applicant would have the chance to carve a special role within the
