EXCITING JOB OPPORTUNITY

Personal Assistant/Office and Royalties Administration Manager

Fairwood Music (South East Asia) Ltd is an independent music publishing company

We are based in Shanghai and represent songwriters, music producers  and composers  for the whole of

South East Asia (except Japan) and some Chinese songwriters for the whole world.

Our western clients include David Bowie, Bob Marley, Paul Oakenfold, Ninja Tunes, Soulwax, Manu Chao.

Our Chinese clients include B6 and JJ Wu. Our role as a music publisher is to collect money due for use

of their songs, to promote and sell their songs, and to find new great writers, both Western and Asian,

who need their work to be represented.

We are looking someone to join the team as an Assistant to the Managing Director

ROLE :

Main functions:

Run and organize the office, write letters (Chinese and English), keep daily accounts etc., provide

close assistance to the managing director  - duties would include things like organising cleaners,

booking airline tickets, paying bills, researching, liaising with other Fairwood offices in Europe,

sometimes attending meetings (as an interpreter) within all areas of the music and media industry

Royalty tracking and accounting – this is a key part of the job which involves:
-        accurate and patient attention, researching documents and royalty statements  



-        following leads and developing relationships  with record company personnel in  all of the SE

Asian territories,
-        understanding the Fairwood song database which contains  over 24,000 song titles and song

writers

Secondary Functions

Fairwood is a small company and the applicant would be expected to become involved in all areas of the

business, from making contacts with new local bands, to helping organize events, and general liasing

with the media and music industry.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Fluent spoken and written English with the ability to act as both an interpreter and translator

(documents,letters, all types of media)

Excellent, fast IT skills, knowledge of Word and Excel essential, plus up to date knowledge of the

latest digital media platforms.

Accurate accounting skills, plus good mathematical head.

Comfortable with databases and spreadsheets, and with filing systems

BONUS QUALIFICATIONS:

Interest and love of music – knowledge of the Chinese music scene, both pop and underground as well as

in western music – expert knowledge is not essential but this is a music company so music is always in

the air….

PERSONAL QUALITIES

The applicant should be efficient, organized, motivated, able to work on his /her own initiative, broad

minded, flexible



TIME :        This is a full – time  job, with a month trial. Hours are 10.00am until 6.00pm with no

weekend work, although there may be some occasions where the applicant would be asked to join management

for business entertaining (suppers or gigs).

SALARY: tbc
