The DVD also contains previously unseen footage, "the making of" several videos. The home video footage features personal moments including the final recording stages of the debut album, Dougie impersonating Richard Ashcroft and an amusing guided tour of Abbey Road studios.
Exclusive documentary footage tracklisting:
1. Joyous Lake Singers: We recruited some folk from the local bar The Joyous Lake, in Woodstock, upstate New York, to help us out with the backing vocals on U16 Girls. This is us recording those vocals in Bearsville Studios - made famous by The Band for their Brown album. The atmosphere was ‘Joyous’. - Fran
2. Soundcheck plus Bearsville: December '96. Bearsville studios. This was pretty much the set up for the entire recording of Good Feeling. Everything loud and played at once. If you look closely you can see (producer) Steve Lillywhite getting excited in the reflection in the glass. Spring ‘97 could be one of dozens of venues. A very self-conscious soundcheck, so this must be our first UK tour. - Dougie
3. Konk Studios: Ray Davis has recording studios near Muswell Hill. We spent a week in here preparing for Bearsville. Beautiful bird, a later b-side was recorded here as well as an early version of As You Are. - Fran
4. Bearsville smurftime: Back in Bearsville in a converted barn known imaginatively, as ‘The Barn’. Neily going into do some percussion overdubs, for which Steve has apparently sped up the tape. This is to make whatever is recorded sound a lot deeper than it is. Hence ‘smurftime’. - Dougie
5. Sometimes he just plays: This was Dougie and Andy’s routine. They started it at art school I think when they had their Friday night jams. Dougie would call out a style and Andy would have to play it. This was recorded round at Andy MacDonald’s house – he’s our A&R man. - Fran
6. Ashcroft: 97 was the summer of The Verve. The Bittersweet Symphony video was everywhere. Even New York. We were there to do a piece for Melody Maker with the excellent journo Paul Marthur. A fun fun trip. - Dougie
7. Noises: Oh we know how to pass the time in the studio - I have no idea where this was recorded. Maybe Metropolis studios in London? - Fran
8. Queen: Ahh those long nights on the tour bus just fly by, as long as you have a copy of Sheer Heart Attack, a couple of mates, a lot of booze and very little shame. Andy and Jeremy are pretty much spot on in the miming department, I however, appear to be somewhat compromised. This was on our European tour 2001. - Dougie
9. Tony Boney: This was filmed in Minneapolis. Tony Boney was a character that Dougie and I had fun with. I have no idea where he came from. Another character who doesn't feature on this DVD is Dan, Fran’s public school brother. Dan was with us during one of our US tours and was known to speak his mind. - Fran
10. Egg: Filming the video for Coming Around in L.A. The fake wall was built especially for us, and is apparently still there as The Strokes used it for a video last year. The shivering is all real, it looks warm and sunny but the wind was pretty strong, and the paint was freezing cold. We had to do all Neil’s' bits early as Esther was just about to have Lola, and he was rushing off to begin fatherhood. - Dougie
11. Learning to Sing: This is me playing Sing to Ian (our manager) for the first time. We had just recorded a demo of it at RAK Studios. The later clip is us in Ocean Way studios in LA with Nigel, recording it properly. - Fran
12. Chords: European tour 2001. Somewhere in Germany. Adam Buxton enquiring about typical Travis chords. Andy and I let slip the secret of the rule book. - Dougie
13. Abbey Road: We were at Abbey Road studios recording some tracks with Mike Hedges during The Man Who sessions. This is a magical mystery tour of Studio B where the Beatles recorded most of their greatest hits. - Fran
14. Village Person: Real World studios 2003. Andy finds a way to psyche himself up for the solo on Happy To Hang Around. They may look peculiar, but his methods are his own. About a minute after this a total stranger walked in to ask (producer) Tchad Blake about something, and rarely have I seen such an embarrassed guitarist. - Dougie
15. Beautiful Intro: Recorded in Cardiff. I remember feeling a little guilty about what I was saying as Tony Blair’s son was in the audience. Poor chap. Fran
16. Dirty Protest: Crear 2003. I’d rather not talk
about this. - Dougie
